Project outline:

The Sainte-Croix park is a precursor to several other wildlife park projects across France. It is characterised in particular by the fact that visitors are able to move among the animals, which are kept in large open enclosures.

In 2010, the park was one of the first places to offer visitors the chance to spend the night there, up close to the animals. In 2012, the management of the Sainte-Croix park, having decided to channel the park’s success and growth, called on Horwath HTL to define a development strategy for the next ten years (2013–2022).

Solution and implementation proposed by Horwath HTL:

The Sainte-Croix project required input from all Horwath HTL’s areas of expertise: strategic, economic and marketing analysis, creativity, scheduling, assistance to the contracting authority and operational assistance.

Following an initial stage of strategic auditing and of drawing up the ten-year plan, we have continued to provide intensive support to the park, through weekly company visits, to assist it in implementing the operational aspects of its short-, medium- and long-term projects.

For example:

  • Masterplanning for the entire estate
  • Rebuilding the brown bear enclosure (2 ha, € 600 000 before tax)
  • Designing a interactive area where visitors can touch insects
  • Creating project monitoring tools
  • Renovating the shop: referencing, layout and decoration plan (+38 % of turnover in one year)
  • Creating a red panda enclosure (scheduling)
  • Creating a wolverine enclosure (design and implementation of visitor route)
  • Designing an extension for the ‘Bare-Foot Trail’
  • Rewriting educational panels and directional signage for the farm
  • Providing communications assistance
  • Providing assistance to the contracting authority for a major project to create a 8-ha extension to house a 60-room accommodation complex among the animals

Project status: Project ongoing (1 to 2 days per week)
